The steering column, or intermediate shaft, acts as a connector between the steering wheel and the steering box. It transfers the steering wheel’s rotational force to the steering box. The intermediate shaft is designed in a hose shape, making it highly flexible. This design prevents the intermediate shaft from entering into the car cabin in accidents, thus protecting the driver.
